From today, 28 May 2010, Centres will be able to order the new A8 with a 3.0 TDI or 3.0 TFSI engine. First deliveries are due at the end of September.
3.0 TFSI quattro
The 3.0 TFSI engine brings the benefits of supercharging technology to the A8 for the first time. This critically-acclaimed engine, first seen in the Audi S4, combines supercharging with FSI direct injection to achieve an outstanding blend of performance and technology. Combined with the A8’s new eight-speed tiptronic transmission, it can achieve 31.0mpg on the combined cycle, emits just 213g/km of CO2, and can reach 62mph from standstill in just 6.1 seconds.
3.0 TDI quattro
With the aid of the latest efficiency measures, such as start-stop technology, Audi Space Frame (ASF), and the eight-speed tiptronic transmission, the new A8 3.0 TDI boasts class-leading efficiency figures of 42.8mpg on the combined cycle with emissions of only 174g/km of C02. Even with these impressive figures the car can reach 62mph in just 6.1 seconds and carry on to a limited top speed of 155mph.
